The Oxford English dictionary is considered the definitive record of the English language. With over 600,000 words and 3 million quotations, it is the largest english dictionary ever created with over 1000 years of experience..

Having given you a lot of background on the dictionary, lets tell you a bit about one of its most famous writer.. William Chester Minor- or W.C. Minor. A civil war veteran  also criminally deranged. He killed someone in London, and was forced into a mental institution. From there he developed his own quotation tracking system- and was able to submit his submissions from there.

Fun fact, The O.E.D is not the biggest dictionary in the world. The holder of that title is the dutch Woordenboek der Nederlandsche Taal.
