Did you know that the Eiffel Tower was supposed to be a temporary construction, lasting for only 20 years? Those were the original plans for the installation, which was built specially for the 1889 World Fair. Nowadays, however, it's being regarded as one of France's national symbols and as one the best-known cultural destinations of the modern world.
