This picture was taken in Sudan, in 1993. The picture is of a young infant who was trying to get to a feeding center, and as she was struggling a vulture was watching her... The photographers were not allowed to touch the children for fear of the transmission of diseases. The photographer, Kevin Carter, waited 20 minutes for the vulture to leave. When it didn't he chased it away.

The photograph won the pulitzer award in 1994, and 3 months after Carter committed suicide. He just could not bare what he had seen.

There is no word on whether this young infant made it...
