Did you know that the idea for Starbucks' name and theme actually came from Moby Dick? The original founders wanted to name their business Pequod after the notorious ship that chased down Moby Dick. They eventually went for Starbuck, which was the name of Captain Ahab's first mate. They also incorporated the nautical theme in the famous Starbucks mermaid logo.
