59-year old Richard James Verone entered into a bank in Gastonia, N.C. and handed a note to the female teller claiming that he had a gun and asking for money. Then he said he would sit on the sofa and wait for the police to arrive and this is what he actually did.
59-year old Richard James Verone entered into a bank in Gastonia, N.C. and handed a note to the female teller claiming that he had a gun and asking for money. Then he said he would sit on the sofa and wait for the police to arrive and this is what he actually did.
When the police got there and arrested him, he turned out to be unarmed and the sum wanted in his note was only one dollar. Strange as it may sound, Richard had his motives to act exactly the way he did.
Verone has a growth in his chest, two ruptured disks and no job, so he calculated that spending three years in jail he will receive the medical care that he needs. But for unarmed robbery Verone would probably receive just a one year sentence . He is currently in Gaston County Jail waiting to appear in front of the court.
