Why it burns when you...
Your body is amazing and has a million ways to make it self feel better- even though sometimes it seems the opposite! Have you ever experienced having a cut somewhere on your body, and you use rubbing alcohol to clean out the cut? Reduces the infection but stings like a B****!
That stinging, or burning sensation is actually happening because a nerve along the skin surface- known as the VR1 nerve- actually detects heat (like if you touch anything too hot, this is what tells your brain you burned your self). Well when the VR1 is exposed and touches the alcohol, your pain threshold is lowered and your own body heat is what is actually causing that burning!
Pretty crazy stuff.
