Did You Know That We Often Want To Squeeze Things We Find Cute Because…

An experimental study regarding people’s reactions at the sight of a cute baby animal or toddler have been conducted by two psychologists from Yale University. The researchers, whose aim was to prove that cuteness inspires aggression, asked participants in the study to pop as few or as many bubbles from the bubble wrap they were holding while looking at picture of either funny, cute or normal animals.
Results showed that people popped much more bubbles when the cute animal pictures were displayed. Psychologists explain people’s reactions with the fact that the aggression provoked by cute creatures is not actually a desire to harm them but an expression of our wish to protect them. Therefore giving a bear hug to your pet or pinching the puffy cheeks of a baby might just be your brain’s way of releasing extreme emotions such as dizziness or happiness which overwhelm you at the sight of a cute creature.
