Why is there an Ancient Egyptian Obelisk in central park!?

Did you know that there is an Obelisk from 1450 BC.. IN CENTRAL PARK!

Obelisks are traditionally ancient egyptian- but how did one get in Central Park- especially 1450 years before christ. That was before the United States was even discovered! 

This Obelisk has a twin that still stands in London. They were both relocated from Egypt to England and the United States.
