Did You Know That There Is A Statue Of Jesus Christ At The Bottom Of…

There is a statue of Jesus Christ, a work of famous Maltese sculptor Alfred Camilleri Cauchi that is actually situated underwater near the coast of Malta. The statue was made in honour of Pope Jean Paul II when His Holiness had first visited the country in 1990. After he blessed the statue, it was placed on the bottom of the sea near the island of St. Paul situated close to Maltese coast as a divers’ attraction.

The original idea of creating such a statue and placing it under water belonged to Italian diver Duilio Marcante. The statue, representing Christ in a blessing pose, was set near the spot where the first Italian Scuba diver, Dario Gonzatti, lost his life in 1947.
